2007 BC Little League 11-12 Provincial Tournament

The 2007 B.C. Little League 11-12 year old Provinical Tournament is hosted by Dunbar Little League. The tournament takes place at West Memorial Park, located at the corner of Dunbar St. and 33rd Avenue in Vancouver between July 20 and July 29.

News Flashes

The 2007 British Columbia Little League champion is White Rock/South Surrey who defeated North Van Central 7-0 in the championship game of the tournament. We wish them great success in the Canadian Little League Championship in Regina.

Thanks to all the players on all teams that participated in this year's tournament. There was a ton of exciting baseball.

A special thank-you to the volunteers who all did such a fantastic job on field preparation, park maintanence, concession, scoring, umping, and the dozens of other tasks that need to be done throughout the tournament.

Playoffs

Championship Game: Monday July 30, 6:00 p.m.

White Rock vs North Van Central:
The 2007 BC Little League championship game was a pitching battle between North Van Central's Louis B. and White Rock's Shaylen B. In the top of the first inning, a bases-loaded triple by Tanner H. scored Jeff K., Jackson T., and Parker S. to put White Rock on the board with 3 runs. In the top of the 2nd inning White Rock's Jackson T. hit a single to drive Shaylen B, to 3rd base, but Jackson was thrown out stealing 2nd to end the inning. In the bottom of the 2nd inning North Van Central's Nick P. walked but was left stranded on 1st base. In the top of the 5th inning, Tony T. singled, Jeff K. got on base, and Jackson T, hit the ball hard through the infield to score the 2 runners. Evan D. hit a double to drive in 2 more runs that inning. Shaylen B. pitched a no-hitter for the winning team, allowing only 2 runners on base.

Playoff Game 3: Sunday July 29, 1:00 p.m.

Hastings vs North Van Central:
Cayden O. and Robbey P. hit singles for Hastings in the top of the first inning both but runners were left stranded. North Van Central scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning on hits by John D., and Nick P. Hastings scored 2 runs in the top of the 3rd inning on a double by Michael G. which scored Mackenzie W. Michael G. stole home for the second run of the inning. In the bottom of the 4th inning John D. singled and Louis B. hit an RBI triple for North Van Central. Nick P. hit an RBI single to bring in Louis B. for the second run of the inning. In the top of the 5th inning, Michael G. and Cayden O. hit singles, and Caydin E. hit a grounder to drive in Michael G. In the bottom of the 5th inning, North Van Central put 2 runners on base, but were unable to bring them home. In the top of the 6th inning, Hastings was put out on 3 pop flys to right field, centre field, and to the pitcher. George U. pitched the entire game for North Van Central and gave up only 5 hits in a very exciting game.

Playoff Game 2: Saturday July 28, 3:30 p.m.

North Van Central vs Trail:
This game saw an exciting pitching duel between Trail's Dallas C. and North Van Central's Mitchell W. Trail moved into the lead in the 3rd inning on a triple by Kevin F. and an RBI single by Austin S. George U. of North Van Central scored the tieing run in the top of the 6th inning on an RBI single by Louis B. North Van Central threatened to move ahead in the 6th inning but were thwarted by Trail's excellent defence. In the bottom of the 7th inning, Dallas C. hit a double for Trail but was stranded on 2nd base by relief pitcher Louis B. In the top of the 8th inning, Nick P. got a single, stole 2nd base, and scored on an RBI double by Mitch W. In the bottom of the 8th inning, Sean B. of Trail hit a single but the team was unable to bring him home. The final score was North Van Central 2, Trail 1.

Playoff Game 1: Saturday July 28, 1:00 p.m.

Hastings vs White Rock:
Mackenzie W. started the game with a solo home run to put Hastings ahead 1-0. White Rock's Parker S. scored after hitting a double in the bottom of the 2nd inning to tie the game at 1. Hastings pulled ahead in the 3rd inning with 2 runs after a lead-off hit by Jessica S. White Rock stormed back in the bottom of the 4th inning scoring 7 runs on 6 hits including a home run by Jackson T. White Rock added 2 more runs in the 5th inning with a home run by Eric M. Hastings battled back in the 6th inning and managed to score 2 runs on 1 hit by Cadin E. The game ended 10-5 in favour of White Rock.

Hastings vs Layritz:
Mackenzie W. hit a lead-off home run for Hastings in the 1st inning. A grand slam home run by Mackenzie W. of Hastings in the top of the 5th inning broke a 3-3 tie. Jackson P. hit a 3-run homer in the bottom of the 5th inning for Layritz to tie the game 7-7. Hastings added 3 runs in the 6th inning, but Layritz scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th with RBI hits by Morgan V. and Jackson P. and a bases loaded walk to Jordan W.

Dunbar vs White Rock:
White Rock scored 8 runs on 7 hits in the 1st inning, 1 in the 2nd inning and 3 runs in the 3rd inning to a 12-0 win over Dunbar. Shaylen B. and Evan D. combined for a no-hitter for the winning team.

A home run from Cayden S. topped a 13-hit performance by Hastings. Prince George put 4 runs on the board with hits by Jaden H. and Reg P.

Trail vs Dunbar:
A close game until the top of the 6th inning when Trail exploded for 4 runs to put Dunbar in a hole they were unable to climb out of. There was strong starting pitching from Trail's Scott D. and from Dunbar's Colin P. and Trail's Dallas C. hit 3 for 3 for the winning team.

Game 27: Thursday July 26, 3:15 p.m.

Little Mountain vs White Rock
This exciting tightly-fought game went into an extra inning. Little Mountain moved ahead in a 3-run 4th inning on hits by Nathan D., Michael W. and Trevor S. White Rock tied the game at 5-5 with an RBI single by Shaylen B. which scored Nick R. in the bottom of the 6th inning. White Rock loaded the bases in the bottom of the 7th inning and with 2 outs, scored the winning run on a passed ball. Matthew L. pitched 5 1/3 strong innings for Little Mountain and was relieved by Tyler S. and Adam H. White Rock used 4 pitchers in the game: Shaylen B., Parker S., Jackson T. and Jordan E.

This game was suspended due to an injury and will be completed on Friday July 27.

North Van Central vs Prince George:
George U. of North Van Central pitched a 2-hit shutout and led his team to a convincing 11-0 win. North Van Central had 7 hits in the game including a triple from Louis B. and a double from John D. The Prince George hits came from Jaden H. and Clayton H.

Little Mountain vs Dunbar:
This game saw a pitching duel between Dunbar's Connor N. and Little Mountains's Nathan D. for 4 scoreless innnings. Little Mountain scored 1 run in the top of the 5th inning with a hit by Trevor S. and an RBI single by Meldrick M. Relief pitchers Colin P. of Dunbar and Vincenté C. of Little Mountain also pitched strong games in an exciting low-scoring contest.

Game 23: Wednesday July 25, 3:15 p.m.

Hastings vs North Van Central:
A lead-off home run by Mackenzie W. and a 2-RBI double by Elio P. gave Hastings 3 runs in the 1st inning. North Van Central scored a run on a solo homer by Louis B. in the 1st inning and added another run in the second inning on hits by Lachlan L. and Mitchell W. Elio P. hit a 2-run homer in the 3rd inning for Hastings to put them up 5-2. Mitchell W. got an RBI single in the 3rd inning for North Van Central, and back to back hits by George U. and John D. scored another run for the home team in the 4th. Michael G. hit an RBI single in the 6th inning to put Hastings up 6-4 which was the final score.

Game 22: Wednesday July 25, 12:30 p.m.

Trail vs Prince George
Trail jumped out to a 4 run lead on 3 hits including a 2-run homer by Scott D. They added 4 runs on 4 hits in the 2nd and 2 more runs in the third inning. Prince George got on the board with a run in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Braiden M. hit a 2 RBI double in a 4-run 4th inning to bring Trail's score up to 14. Prince George loaded the bases in the 6th inning by were unable to put a runner across the plate.

Layritz vs White Rock:
After 2 1/2 scoreless innings in a pitching duel between Ethan C. of White Rock and Nick G. of Layritz, White Rock got on the board with an RBI double by Jeff K. White Rock added another run in the 4th inning on a single by Parker S. and an RBI triple by Evan D. White Rock scored 2 more runs in the 5th inning on a hard hit ball by Jackson T. Ethan C. gave up only 1 hit in 5 2/3 innings for the winning team.

Game 20: Tuesday July 24, 6:00 p.m.

Dunbar vs North Van Central
This game saw a superb pitching performance by Louis B. of North Van Central who gave up only 1 hit in 5 1/3 innings. Louis also hit a solo home run in the second inning. George U. also had a strong game for North Van Central, hitting 2 for 3 and coming in as a relief pitcher. Dunbar scored 1 run in the top of the 6th inning with an RBI single by Ian S. but left the bases loaded.

Game 19: Tuesday July 24, 3:15 p.m.

Little Mountain vs Layritz
Hits by Nathan D., Meldrick M., and Michael W. scored 3 runs for Little Mountain in the 1st inning. The game was tied by Layritz in the bottom of the 1st inning on a double by Nick G. After 5 scoreless innings and strong pitching from Morgan V. of Layritz and Cam S. of Little Mountain, the game went into extra innings. Daniel B. hit Spencer S. for the winning run for Layritz.

Game 18: Tuesday July 24, 12:30 p.m.

Hastings vs Trail
Mackenzie W. hit a solo homer in the 3rd inning to put Hasting ahead 3-1. Trail fought back with 3 runs in the 5th inning on hits by Scott D. and Johnny R. to make the game close but were unable to complete the come-back.

Prince George vs White Rock:
Shaylen B. hit a 2 RBI single and a 2 RBI double to contribute to a 9 run 1st inning for White Rock. White Rock added 1 run in the 2nd inning with a solo homer by Tanner S. and 3 more runs in the 3rd for a 13-0 victory over Prince George.

Game 16: Monday July 23, 6:00 p.m.

Hastings vs Dunbar:
Hastings put together 3 runs in the 1st inning and 4 in the 2nd to jump out to a 7-0 lead. In the 3rd inning, Dunbar loaded the bases with 2 walks and a hit batter. 1 run scored on a passed ball, 2 scored on a single by Jason M. and 1 more on a bases-loaded walk. A solo homer by Cayden O., a bases loaded double by Jessica S., and a single by Michael G. contributed to a 4-run 4th inning for Hastings. Mackenzie W. and Cayden O. added home runs in the 6th inning for Hastings.

White Rock vs North Van Central
White Rock scored 4 runs in the 1st inning, 3 runs in the 3rd inning, 2 in the 4th and 3 more in the 5th. Tony T. hit a 2-run homer and White Rock pitcher Shaylen B. shut out North Van Central giving up only 2 hits in 5 innings.

Layritz vs Trail:
Layritz jumped ahead in the 2nd inning with 4 runs, but Trail exploded for 8 runs in the 4th inning and 3 runs in the 5th inning to pull ahead. Layritz put 3 runs on the board in the top of the 6th inning with a 3-run homer by Morgan V. but were unable to score enough runs to overcome the deficit. There were stong performances by Trail pitchers Dallas C. and D.J. W.

Little Mountain vs Prince George:
Little Mountain scored their lead-off batter, Matthew L. in the 1st inning, then added 4 runs in the 3rd inning with a hard hit ball by Cam S. with bases loaded and an RBI single by Oleg D. Prince George got on the board with 3 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning with bases loaded walks to Jaden H., Kelsey T. and Seth L. Ryden I. hit an RBI double in the 6th inning to add another run for Little Mountain. In the bottom of the 6th, Prince George got a hit from Jeff A., and a hit batter to put 2 runners on base but did not manage to score a run. The final score was 6-3 in favour of Little Mountain.

North Van Central vs Trail:
Strong outings by Trail pitcher Scott D. and North Van Central pitcher Mitch W. provided a tight low-scoring contest. Trail jumped out to a 1 - 0 lead in the 1st inning with singles by Lucas C. and Johnny R. North Van Central tied the game in the top of the 4th inning with a bunt single by Nick B. which scored Louis B. In the bottom of the 6th inning, Trail hit the ball well, but did not manage to score a run. In the bottom of the 8th, Trail loaded the bases on a walk, a bunt single, and another single, and the winning run was driven in by Johnny R.

Hastings vs Little Mountain:
A lead-off home run by Mackenzie W. followed a 8-hit first inning set Hasting off to a 8 run lead. Little Mountain battled back in the bottom of the 1st with 6 runs on 1 hit and 5 walks. Hasting added 3 runs in the 2nd inning and 3 more in the 3rd inning and 4 runs in the 5th inning. Little Mountain fought back with 6 runs on 5 hits in the bottom of the 5th followed by another run in the bottom of the 6th. Robbey P. of Hastings had a strong game hitting 5 for 5 for the winning team.

This game was postponed because of rain and will be played on Friday July 27 at 9:00 a.m.


Game 7: Saturday July 21, 2:30 p.m.

Trail vs White Rock:
Trail jumped out to a 5-run lead on 6 hits in the top of the 1st inning. White Rock battled back with 4 runs in the 1st inning and 1 run in the 2nd inning to tie the game. White Rock got 7 runs off 7 hits (including a grand slam home run by Tanner S.) in the bottom of the 3rd inning to move into a commanding lead.

Game 6: Saturday July 21, 11:15 a.m.

Dunbar vs. Layritz:
Dunbar jumped out to a 2-run lead with a single by Luc H. and a triple by Connor N. Layritz tied the game in the bottom of the 2nd inning with hits by Daniel B. and Morgan V. After a couple of shutout innings, Layritz's bats came alive as they scored 2 runs on 5 hits in the bottom of the 5th inning to take a 4-2 lead.

Game 5: Saturday July 21, 9:00 a.m.

Little Mountain vs North Van Central:
North Van jumped out to a 3 run lead in the bottom of the first inning. Little Moutain tied the game in the top of the fourth inning with a 3-run homer by Vincenté C. Little Mountain pulled ahead in the top of the 5th inning but North Van Central battled back with some aggressive base running in the bottom of the 5th to regain the lead.

Game 4: Friday July 20, 6:20 p.m.

Hasting vs White Rock:
Mackenzie W. started things off for Hastings with a first pitch home run, but White Rock battled back with 4 runs in the second inning. There was strong pitching from both sides and although each team had 7 hits, White Rock put more players across the plate and came away with a 8 to 3 win.

Game 3: Friday July 20, 3:45 p.m.

Layritz vs North Van Central:
North Van Central jumped out to a 4 run lead in the bottom of the first inning and held off their opponents - Layritz in a tight contest that ended 6 - 3 in favour of North Van Central. Home runs were hit by Louis B. for North Van Central and Jackson P. for Layritz. Louis B. pitched 5 1/3 innings for North Van Central and gave up only 4 hits.

Little Mountain vs Trail:
Cam S. hit 2 3-run homers and a single to lead Little Mountain to a 13 to 2 opening win over Trail. Cam S. pitched the entire game for Little Mountain and gave up only 4 hits.

Game 1: Friday July 20, 9:45 a.m.

Dunbar vs Prince George:
Ian S. went 4 for 4 with 3 triples and a grand slam home run to lead Dunbar to a convincing 17-0 victory over Prince George in the opening game. Other Dunbar contributions came from from Luc H. who batted 2 for 3 and there was solid pitching for Dunbar by Colin P. (3 innings) and Jason M. (1 inning).
