Support the Pearl of Africa Baseball Series

182940_581576361874703_1293146502_nDunbar LL families were wonderful contributors in late 2011 and early 2012 providing financial support to the Right to Play charity and  sending the 2011 Canadian Little League champion team from Langley to Uganda in January 2012 for the “Pearl of Africa Series”.  Uganda went on to participate in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania in August 2012.   For a great video montage on Uganda’s Little League team, surf to: http://www.opposite-field.com. Now, a new initiative called Pearl of Africa Series 2 (PoA 2) is underway. For current information surf to:  https://www.facebook.com/PearlofAfricaUG
The 2013 fundraising goal is $80,000 with the objective to help Ugandan girls and boys, aged 10 to 17 years, participate in baseball and softball. The Commonwealth Games of Canada will issue charitable tax receipts for donations to those who donate $20 or more. Please do contact me for more information if you wish to donate money.
Please locate any baseball equipment you may have to donate.  While bats and gloves are most needed, cleats, caps and t-shirts are also in short supply. About 1 tonne of baseball and softball equipment found its way to Uganda last year.   You can drop them off at 3880 West Kind Edward Ave.  We expect most folks will have equipment to donate once the current season ends in the summer.  That’s OK, we’re here in the summer to do pick-up! Just email to sandy.fogarassy@gmail.com.
