Cancellation of Dunbar Little League’s 2020 Spring Baseball Season

Thank you for your patience during these unprecedented times. We hope you and your families are coping well and staying healthy as we all adjust to this pandemic reality.

It is with profound disappointment that the DLL Board of Directors is announcing the cancellation of our spring baseball season.

We have been monitoring the COVID-19 situation carefully and have maintained constant discussions with all relevant parties. At certain times over the past month, it looked as though baseball would be feasible given the comments from Provincial Health authorities and politicians. However, as we are all becoming accustomed to, the situation is fluid and ever evolving. Provincial governing bodies still have yet to provide return-to-play protocols and the City of Vancouver has not provided permits to sports groups, nor has either given timelines for such permissions. Little League International, for the first time in history, has cancelled the Little League World Series which was followed by the decision of Little League Canada to cancel Canadian nationals and all provincial level tournaments. After thorough consideration, consultation, and in full agreement with the rest of the District 1 leagues (Dunbar, Jericho, Kerrisdale, Little Mountain), we have determined the timeline that would allow us to facilitate a spring baseball season would not be viable.
