Umpiring at Dunbar Little League
Majors Division Players who are at least 11 years old this season and players who have aged out of Little League are invited to become an umpire with Dunbar Little League.
Umpiring is a fun way to be involved with baseball outside of playing games as well as a great way to earn some extra money and learn decision-making skills and to take on responsibility.
New umpires will typically begin with base umpiring at Minor B and with experience, players can move to be plate umpiring for Minor B plate and Minor A.
Dunbar Little League pays our umpires the following per game honorarium:
• Minor B Base Umpire: $15
• Minor B Plate Umpire: $20
• Minor A Base Umpire: $20
• Minor A Plate Umpire: $25
• Majors Base Umpire: $30
• Majors Plate Umpire: $35
New Umpires
New umpires must register for and attend a mandatory umpire clinic. The date and time of this clinic will be determined prior to the start of each season.
This year, due to COVID, this clinic will likely be done via zoom.
To register for the clinic, please email Selena Chu, Dunbar Umpire Coordinator, at selena_chu@hotmail.com. Please include name, age, email and phone number of the prospective umpire.
Returning Umpires
Returning umpires should be receiving an email via Assignr.com prior to the season with the clinic details. Given that everyone had a year off due to the COVID pandemic, the umpire clinic will be mandatory for returning umpires and will serve as a refresher.
Scheduling
Following the umpire clinic, scheduling for all divisions will be done via Assignr.com. Once you have registered for the clinic and provided the umpire’s information, you will be advised to make an Assignr.com account (if you haven’t already done so). This is where umpires will provide their availability for the season and where they will be assigned games to work.
