Thank you to the over 580 players who have already registered for the 2009 season here at Dunbar Little League (DLL). The February 12th Assured In-Boundary registration deadline has now passed, so registrations are now subject to available space and the higher fee as outlined on the Registration Form which can be found in the Documents section. If you know of any new families to the Dunbar area or those with pre-schoolers who may wish to play Blastball (the one division that still has several spaces), please give them our website address: dunbarbaseball.ca
If your cheque has been cashed, you will know that your child’s registration has been processed. Those registrations received after February 12th are subject to space and the higher fee, so our Registrar shall be in contact with you with an update. Registered player’s families can expect an e-mail from their new team by April 10th, and Opening Day will be on Saturday, April 18th. Team game and practice schedules, other than for Majors which holds a draft in early March, are not published prior to April 10th, so it is best to have an open schedule for baseball season, as the weather can result in re-scheduling of games and practices. Registration questions should be sent to “dunbarbaseball@gmail.com”.
Also please be sure to read the entire newsletter as it contains very important information about the 2009 season including the key dates and some changes that have been made for the upcoming season. There is a check box on this year’s registration form to indicate you have read and understand the DLL Player and Family Commitment Statement (obligation statement), which can be found in the Documents section of our site. A child’s registration will not be processed unless this box is checked off and a job has been indicated. There is a description of these jobs in the Volunteer Positions file which is also in the Documents section of this site.
If you are keen to get more involved with the administration of the league, we have some openings and would welcome you. Please e-mail the DLL Volunteer Co-ordinator, Eric Hopkins, at erichopkins@shaw.ca and he will be in touch with you. With nearly 600 players we need many volunteers to make DLL run smoothly, so please consider getting involved with our league that offers so much to the children of our neighbourhood. We look forward to another wonderful season, our 52nd, here at Dunbar Little League.
