We are all aware of the situation with COVID-19 which is making plans uncertain for sports leagues and community groups across the province. The local health authorities have asked that everyone limit larger social gatherings, parades and extra-curricular activities. This would, of course, include Dunbar Little League’s games and practices should these recommendations still be in effect when the season is scheduled to start on April 18th. Although this is the current recommendation, it that may change over the next three weeks.
We are closely monitoring the situation and taking specific directions from both Little League Canada and our provincial health authorities as to the best and safest course of action for our players and volunteers.
At this time we have not been directed to cancel or delay our regularly scheduled season which is set to begin on April 18th but have been asked to make contingency plans in case that happens. We have been asked to move our Work Day from April 4th to April 11th for now.
We would also like to assure our members, that all decisions regarding COVID-19 are being made with the full consultation of Dr. Beth Donaldson, the medical director for Copeman Health Clinic and a mother of two players in Dunbar Little League. Thanks to Beth for providing her time and expertise with this evolving situation.
