About this division

For children born between September 1, 2012, to August 31, 2016.  Players will be baseball age 10 to 12 years old, with discretionary decisions on high performing 9-year-olds. Players will be drafted onto teams based on their age and skill level and their assessment scores. Majors will be split into 2 subdivisions: A & B.  All players wanting to be placed in the Majors divisions are required to attend the assessments in January.

Player Commitment

Majors A

1 practice (1 hr and 30 min) and 2 games (2 – 3 hr) per week. Practice days/times are set by team coaches and division coordinators during the week. Games are scheduled throughout the week and weekend.

Players are usually expected to arrive 45 minutes to 1 hour before the game for warmup activities.

Majors B

1 practice (1 hr and 30 min) and 2 games (2 – 3 hr) per week.  Practice days/times are set by team coaches and division coordinators during the week.

Games are scheduled throughout the week and weekend. Players are usually expected to arrive 45 minutes to 1 hour before the game for warmup activities.

Players who are recommended by their coach may have the opportunity to be “called up” to play Majors A games if the Majors A game is not on the same day as the player’s own team game.

Parent Commitment

The families of the home team are responsible for scorekeeping. This includes using Gamechanger, recording on the paper scorebook, and using the score-board. The away team is responsible for the field prep (1 hr before the game) and field cleanup. Each team should create a rotation so that all families (except the Coach) take part in these required family duties.

Equipment

Each player receives a baseball hat which they get to keep, a team jersey, catcher’s protective gear and bats to use throughout the season. Players must provide their own batting helmet, baseball glove, baseball pants, athletic cup (jock/jill), baseball cleats (rubber/plastic studs only) and sliding pants.  Bats are optional and will be provided if needed, but it is common at this level for each child to have their own bat.
