Dunbar Little League Safety Guidance

  • Injury or Safety Reporting
    • Please report all injuries or safety issues using our online form
      1. DLL Injury Report Form
    • Injuries of players, but also anyone attending a DLL event (i.e., umpires, spectators) should be reported
    • At the time of the injury, coaches must notify the parent/guardian of the player, who will then be responsible to seek medical attention for their child
    • Any potentially concerning injury should be reported, but particularly those requiring medical attention
      1. Players sustaining head injuries/concussions must be cleared by a medical professional before returning to play and documentation should be provided to the DLL Safety Officer
    • Injury report forms will be reviewed by the DLL Safety Officer, who may follow-up with the individuals impacted
    • Injuries will be discussed at the DLL Board Meetings
  • Safety Rules
    • No on deck swinging or swinging with Bownets etc. on the sidelines
    • Pitchers may warm up in “bullpen” areas down the first and third base line, adjacent to the outfield.
      1. In addition to the catcher (wearing a mask), there must be a third player (wearing a helmet) or coach standing between the pitcher/catcher and the infield to field any foul balls that may be hit in that direction
    • Only players and coaches in the dugout and playing field (no parents)
    • Gates from the dugout to the playing field should remain closed at all times during play, unless players are entering/exiting
    • Coaches may warm up pitchers and is recommended that they wear a catcher’s mask; any player warming up a pitcher must wear a mask
  • Safety equipment
    • All fields will be stocked with the ice packs and first aid kits
    • Currie Field will also have an Epi pens and AED
