Player Development

Player development is a big focus for Dunbar Little League and we are excited to e able

to offer our players additional opportunities for professional coaching. DLL offers

various optional in-season development sessions to assist with players at all levels and

Majors Sunday In-Season Travel Series

ABOUT THIS PROGRAM

The little league season is short and goes directly into summer tournament play. The

Majors Sunday In-Season Travel Series is designed to provide extra competition for

kids who are keen on baseball and to help prepare them for tournament team play by

participating in a weekly exhibition game versus other Little League organizations

throughout the Lower Mainland. Two groups will be formed – an 11 / 12 age group and 9

/ 10 age group. The program will run from April 13 to June 8.

ELIGIBILITY AND INVITATION

Based on the pre-season assessments and coach input, 15 to 20 players for each age

group will receive an “invitation” to participate. This will ensure players of similar skill

levels are playing with and against each other. A player receiving an invitation for the

program, may not necessarily receive an invitation for summer tournament teams. And

vice versa, a player not participating in the program is still eligible for the various

summer tournament teams. Players not receiving an invitation are encouraged to

regularly attend their designated Sunday training sessions.

PLAYER COMMITMENT

There will be a game and / or training session on most Sunday, except on Holidays or

other league event days. Some travel will be required to visit other little leagues for

games. All players for each age group will train together. For games versus other little

leagues DLL will invite 10 – 12 players per game. The selection will be based on player

availability and rotation to try to ensure players get a similar amount of games each.

PARENT COMMITMENT

Each team relies on parent volunteer coaches and team manager. Field prep and

scorekeeping is also required by parent volunteers.

GAME STRUCTURE

Games will be designed to reflect tournament rules, subject to each pitcher being limited

to 1 -2 innings maximum per game. The goal is for development against higher level

competition, opposed to results at this stage.
