Tournaments

Tournament baseball is an exciting and rewarding experience for players who are committed and enthusiastic about baseball.

May Long Weekend Tournaments

Players choosing to be considered for the May Long Weekend team must be available to play games all weekend (possibly starting after 3:00 pm on Friday May 17, 2019).

DLL will be entering the following teams in the May Long Weekend tournaments:

  • Dairy Queen 8’s Tournament (hosted by DLL with all games on Minor A diamond at 33rd Avenue and Dunbar Street – 1 or 2 teams depending on demand)
  • 9 Selects (tournament hosted by Jericho Little League – 1 team)

Registration closed at noon on Friday April 26th, 2019.
If you indicate to us that your child is interested in being considered for one of these teams, you will be provided with further information or invited to a meeting to discuss the evaluation process and commitment requirements further.

Post Season Tournament Teams

Playing rep level baseball is a privilege not a right. Players and families will be required to make significant time commitments (outlined below).

Please note that All Star teams are those that represent Dunbar Little League in the sanctioned Little League District 1 tournaments. Selects teams promote player development in preparation for the following year’s All Star tournament teams.

DLL will be entering the following teams this season:

  • 11/12 All Stars (Head Coach – Jim Cole)
  • 11’s Selects (Head Coach – Chris Cooper)
  • 9/10 All Stars (Head Coach – Pat Chin)

* subject to player demand and availability a 9’s Selects and 12’s Selects team may be entered.

Registration closed at noon on Tuesday April 30th, 2019. Late registrations will not be accepted.

To ensure you register for the correct team please visit our registration page and refer to the Age Eligibility Chart if you need to confirm your child’s baseball age.

Time Commitment and Schedule

Each of the Tournament teams will require players to be available June 16th to approximately July 28, 2019. Between practices, exhibition games, and tournaments, players can expect to be at the ballpark 5 to 6 times a week. In the event that either of our All Star teams do not advance past district play, the Head Coaches have committed to enter into further tournaments through July. For the 11/12 All Star team, availability could extend to late August should the team make Nationals and the Little League World Series.

This Tournament page will continue to be updated once we have confirmed Little League All Star dates.

Fees and Costs

Once selected to a tournament team, you will be required to pay a fee. The amount will be contingent upon what each team’s Head Coach decides as tournaments they want to play in, the location of the tournaments and the team swag each team decides upon. The fee will not cover travel costs. The expected range of fee will be $275 to $375 per player.

Selection Process

No player has made any team. If players/families think their position on a team is secure that is not the case.

For the 11/12 All Stars, all six Majors teams will be voting on who makes the team.

For the 11’s Selects and the 9/10 All Stars (and 9’s Selects and 12’s Selects if enough demand), the selection process will be overseen by an independent selection committee (selected by the DLL board) that consists entirely of people who do not have a player trying out. Raw talent alone does not get one on a team. Players will be watched for having the right attitude (good work ethic, positive outlook, unselfish play and supporting teammates).

If you indicate to us that your child is interested in being considered for one of these teams, you will be provided with further information or invited to a meeting to discuss the evaluation process and commitment requirements further.
